Hi, lovely people, Ella here!
New year, new goals, same love for clothes that make us feel amazing. But before we rush into a season of “outs with the old, in with the new”, I want to invite you to look at your wardrobe differently this January. Instead of starting fresh… what if we built on what we already love?
When I shop vintage, I’m not thinking about trends or throwing everything away. I’m thinking about pieces that work with real wardrobes. Before buying anything in January, look at what you genuinely wear:
- What fabrics do you reach for most?
- What silhouettes make you feel most like YOU?
- Which colours make you feel good?
- These little clues are the building blocks of your personal style.
Vintage isn’t about impulse purchases; it’s about intentional treasures. A single vintage coat or perfectly tailored pair of trousers can re-energise your entire wardrobe. One great piece can unlock 10 new outfits.
When I curate Ella Pop Shop items, I ask myself:
“Can this be lived in? Worn in different ways? Loved for years?”
That’s the kind of wardrobe reset we all deserve.
As we look ahead, quality matters more than quantity. Seek out pieces in 100% cotton, wool, denim, linen, silk, or genuine leather. These fabrics age beautifully, feel incredible on the skin, and are far kinder to the planet than synthetics that shed microplastics and fall apart quickly.
Another year means another round of trends we’ll forget by April. But your personal style? That’s forever. Buy pieces that align with who you are, not who the internet tells you to be. Vintage gives us history, identity and emotion. It lets us choose individuality over algorithms.
So, whenever you find yourself standing in front of a piece you like, here is my suggestion: try asking yourself three short questions before buying: Will I wear it at least 20 times? Does the fabric feel durable and real? Does it make me feel something good? If the answers are yes, it’s worth investing in.
If you’re feeling inspired, I’ve curated a selection of vintage staples perfect for starting the year with intention: pieces that are timeless, versatile and ready to be lived in.
Here’s to a year of wearing pieces we love, care for, and keep for seasons to come.
With love,
Ella x
